چکیده
P a t i e n t s 102 patients who required long-term regular NSAID treatment, had a positive result for H. pylori on a urea breath test, and had moderate dyspepsia or a history of endoscopically confirmed peptic ulcers. Exclusion criteria were exposure to NSAIDs (except for aspirin, ≤ 325 mg/d) for > 1 month within the previous 8 weeks; concomitant treatment with steroids, anticoagulants, or antiulcer drugs; substantial renal impairment; previous treatment for H. pylori; or history of gastric surgery or serious ulcer complications. Followup was 98% (mean age 63 y, 67% women).

SECONDARY PREVENTION OF UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL BLEEDING IN LOW DOSE ASPIRIN USERS INFECTED WITHHELICOBACTER PYLORI
ABSTRACT Background: Aspirin even at low dose ( 100 mg) can increase the risk of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. It is usual to use low dose aspirin for cardiovascular prophylaxis. We hypothesized that Helicobacter pylori eradication is as effective as omeprazole maintenance therapy for secondary prevention of bleeding in those who take low dose aspirin and are positive for Helicobacter pylor...
متن کاملAdding ofloxacin to standard triple-drug regimens increased the Helicobacter pylori eradication rate: Data from randomized clinical trial
Background: The rate of Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) eradication in dyspeptic patients using bismuth- based triple therapy is low due to bacterial that are resistant to antibiotics. The results of recent studies regarding levofloxacin have been encouraging, but the high cost of treatment prevents its routine administration. We, therefore, performed the present double-blind clinical trial to c...
متن کاملHelicobacter pylori does not play a part in the dyspeptic complaints of rheumatology patients receiving long term treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
BACKGROUND The presence of dyspeptic symptoms is a common finding in patients treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Some studies seem to support the involvement of Helicobacter pylori infection in the dyspeptic symptoms reported by these patients, and suggest that eradication may be useful. OBJECTIVE To determine the variables related to dyspepsia in rheumatology patien...

متن کاملSTOMACH Primary prevention of diclofenac associated ulcers and dyspepsia by omeprazole or triple therapy in Helicobacter pylori positive patients: a randomised, double blind, placebo controlled, clinical trial
Background: There is much controversy as to whether or not treatment of Helicobacter pylori reduces the occurrence of peptic ulcers during therapy with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Aim: To assess the efficacy of triple therapy or omeprazole on the occurrence of diclofenac associated ulcers in H pylori positive patients. Methods: This was a randomised, double blind, placebo co...
